What is LEI code?
A Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) code is a unique 20-character alphanumeric code. The code is used to identify companies and other legal entities who are active in the securities market.

LEI code is required for all legal entities that trade in securities
Why is LEI needed?
LEI is needed in order for relevant authorities to be able to identify legal entities that carry out transactions in the securities market. The unique LEI codes make it possible to connect all occurring transactions to one or more legal entities. The purpose of this is to help identify transactions in order to make the financial market more transparent.
Is an LEI code public?
Yes, your LEI code and the information connected to It is public. The information can be found in the GLEIF database. It’s all part of the purpose of LEI codes, to be a transparent system.
How do I register LEI?
You can register LEI through a service provider connected to a Local Operating Unit, LOU. Here at LEI Certificate you can register and renew LEI at one of the lowest prices on the market.
What does LEI cost?
The cost for LEI registration varies between the different service providers. At LEI Certificate, the following prices apply:
LEI 1 year – £45 (£45 per year)
LEI 3 year – £120 (£40 per year)
LEI 5 year – £175 (£35 per year)
Prices are excluding VAT but include all fees.
For how long is an LEI code valid?
An LEI code is valid for one year. After that, you are required to renew your LEI in order for it to stay active.
Can I control the validity of my LEI code?
Yes, you can control the validity of your LEI code by searching your company name or LEI number in the GLEIF database.
How do I renew LEI?
You can renew your LEI through a LEI service provider. Here at LEI Certificate you can renew your LEI code for up to 5 years at a time.
What does it cost to renew LEI?
We apply the same prices for registration and renewal. You can renew LEI from £35 a year + VAT.
How does multiple-year renewal work?
If you choose to renew your LEI code for more than one year, your service provider will make sure that your LEI cod is automatically renewed each year. You will pay for several years of LEI code at once, and you will not have to worry about renewing your LEI every year.

Can I transfer the LEI code?
If you have your LEI code at another service provider, you can still renew your code through us here at LEI Certificate. All you need to do is transfer your LEI number to us, which is free of charge and completed within 7 days.
